St. Joseph & The Pinecone

St. Joseph & The Pinecone

St. Joseph is often associated with Lillies but have you ever heard of the pinecone? First you must understand the sole purpose of the pinecone: to protect the seed inside. Just as St. Joseph protected the divine seed of the Christ Child during the Flight into Egypt. The symbolism of the tough outer shell of the pinecone represents adversity and perseverance just as St. Joseph embodied throughout his life. This may be the reason for pignoli Italian cookies on every St. Joseph Table on the Feast Day! As those too represent pinecones. However we have another recipe for you to try using our Speculaas cookie mold.
