Harvest or Hurricane Season?

Harvest or Hurricane Season?

Fall can be confusing in Florida. When your calendar mentally prepares you for golden brown leaves and cool weather, but all you see is windy palm trees & rain. We jump at the chance to experience "fall" any chance we can get in between torrential downpours and lightening. Only to see the sun shine again hours later once you are back inside.

Today is a bit different. As we anticipate Hurricane Helene, we decided to play a family game of volley ball on the court in the flying sand. At this season of life we have those that jump up and cheer at the thought of playing while others whine and complain about having fun that they too will eventually enjoy. Nevertheless we made our way down to the court for a brief game where dad decided the losers must run a half mile towards the trees in the wooded area nearby.

Well, ironically, even the winners wanted to be losers and run off energy before the storm keeps us all inside hunkered down in our nest. The littles and I made sure to pic some wildflowers on our way back. They were eager to bring every tiny bud inside to sort on either the chair or their Faithmats. The cutesy umbrellas on the back of their chairs were a non-negotiable. Thank God Catholics aren't superstitious right?

It's sad to ponder when the last day will be, when picking wildflowers is no longer on their radar. When does that stop happening? Similar to the last day you pick up and hold a child, only to set them down, to never to be picked up again.....unknowingly.

Back home is where the real Autumn Season comes alive. We had cold sparkling, apple cider drinks waiting on us. We kicked it up a notch with a choice of almond or coconut whip cream on top, and the cutest fall leaves & pumpkin cookies I've ever laid eyes on! This was all courtesy of a thoughtful sibling who decided to splurge her savings to buy some for the family to indulge. They even had cute little notches cut out to place on your glass or bowl. What a treat!

The cute umbrellas, plant based whip creams and chemical free cider all under $25! All of these fabulous, Fall, finds were at Aldi this week! Minus our best-selling Faithmats which can be found in our online store with free custom personalization for only $15! Perfect for first birthdays, baptism, or any occasion you want to make clean up easy. They are dishwasher safe and wipe clean without any effort at all.  Making mealtime and homeschool fun, with letter tracing through the thick silicone engraving for each child's name!

Now it's time to cozy up to a relaxing book by the window and fall asleep to the wind & the rain! Or a bit of sibling rivalry.

If you could drop a prayer to avert storms for us we'd be most appreciative. A prayer for the fighting is a bonus***

After that.....
